Taste of the island tour
Step into a sunlit storybook where nature is the narrator and every flavor tells a tale.
This enchanting countryside experience invites you to discover the heart of Hvar through the warmth of its people, the scent of wild lavender, and the golden sweetness of honey harvested under the Mediterranean sun.
PRICE:
1-4 people 350 euros
5-7 people 500 euros
The first stop on the tour is the Napoleon Fortress. With a beautiful view, the first interaction with the guest is created and introduced to the life and history of the island of Hvar. A short drive takes us to the beautiful village of Brusje where we visit the Hure / Mikletovi family, where the hosts introduce us to the world of beekeeping and life as it once was.
Tasting honey and bee products – Guests will have the opportunity to learn about the honey production process, from its creation to the final product, and will be able to taste four types of varietal honey from heather, sage, lavender, and rosemary (types may vary depending on the season).
In addition, we offer guests a tasting of flower powder (pollen), which people have recently increasingly recognized as a highly medicinal food.
In an interesting and fun way, visitors learn about beekeeping and the importance of protecting bees in the world.
For a moment, they become beekeepers themselves, which arouses great enthusiasm among the guests.
The honey tasting itself is accompanied by a tasting of various types of homemade brandies (honey, myrtle, carob, herbal brandy). Dried figs, candied almonds, oranges and lemons make this tasting complete.
In the Mikletovi tavern, guests have the opportunity to learn how lavender oil and other lavender products are produced. The family produces around 50-60 liters of oil per year, by picking lavender in the traditional way and processing it in the village distillery. The description of the production is very interesting to the guests because they often think that it is harvested by tractors and not by hand. They are introduced to picking tools and the way people used to transport lavender from the fields with donkeys.
What is most interesting to guests are the lavender products themselves. There are soaps, lavender and rosemary essential oils, and dried flowers in various gift packages that guests are happy to buy as a little reminder of the scent of Hvar.
An essential part of the offer is olive oil. Guests have the opportunity to try two types of olive oil; the first one was produced on a hot press, which was traditionally produced in Brusje itself, and the second one, which was produced on a cold press, which represents modern production, was processed in Bogomolje.
Our tasting room is located in a traditional century-old house in Brusje, not far from the town of Hvar. Guests will feel as if they have stepped into the past, immersing themselves in an authentic interior that exudes history and tradition. In addition, visitors will be able to view family photos and meet the hosts, which will give them a personal insight into the family’s life.
Visit to the newly opened ” Brusje Heritage Museum ” which hides many secrets from the past of the village and the island. (optional)
After trying all the products and meeting the hosts, the journey takes us to the lavender fields, where visitors will immerse themselves in unforgettable scents and learn about the tools and the method of harvesting lavender flowers.
The path further leads us to the viewpoint of St. Roko, where visitors have a perfect view of the Old Town and the UNESCO-protected Hora field (perfect for photography)
